Spain has opened borders for residents of the European Union
Spanish authorities from Sunday began to allow residents of EU countries and the Schengen zone to enter their territory without restrictions, European media reports.
Citizens of countries from this zone will be allowed to enter Spain freely, without requiring a mandatory 14-day quarantine.
In particular, free movement across the border with France resumed from midnight local time.
However, not all EU countries have agreed to open borders with Spain. So, the authorities of neighboring Portugal announced that they will be ready to do this only from July 1.
Spain was one of the main epicenters of the spread of coronavirus infection in Western Europe. More than 300 thousand cases of infection were detected in the country, and more than 28 thousand patients died.
