Elon Musk says Tesla Semi will go 1000 Kilometres per charge
The range of the top-end modification of the Tesla Semi truck with four electric motors will be about 1000 kilometers.
Tesla's electric truck will be able to travel up to 1000 kilometers without recharging. This is reported by Electrek with reference to the head of the company, Elon Musk. According to him, such indicators can be achieved thanks to modernized batteries and advanced technologies of American engineers.
Earlier in "Tesla" cited other data regarding the maximum mileage of Semi trucks. So, it was reported that in the standard version Tesla Semi will be able to travel up to 500 km, and in the top - up to 800 kilometers. Prices for such truck modifications will be $150,000 and $180,000, respectively.
"Getting a range of let’s say 500 km is I think quite easy, trivial to be frank, for a semi truck and this is assuming a truck that is pulling a load of 40 metric tons. If you want, for long-range trucking, you can take the range up to, we think, easily 800 km, and we see a path over time to 1,000 km range for an heavy-duty truck," said Elon Musk.
According to preliminary data, the production truck will be equipped with four units, the output of which has not yet been specified. It is expected that the truck will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in five seconds, and with a trailer weighing 40 tons in 20 seconds.
The Tesla Semi electric truck prototype was first shown in November 2017. It was originally planned that the car will go into mass production in 2019. The reasons for the delays in release are not officially disclosed. The next Tesla premiere should be a redesigned electric Cybertruck pickup. At the moment, Tesla has already received more than half a million pre-orders for the purchase of Cybertruck, the production version of which will not appear until the end of 2021. Car prices will start at $49,000.
