Toyota patented an unmanned refueling vehicle
The drone car can both refuel cars and charge electric cars.
The Japanese company Toyota has patented a refueling drone that can refuel cars and charge electric cars on the fly. This is reported by The Drive, which found a patent in the PatentSwarm database. The site is currently unavailable.
The authors of the article note that the term on-the-fly can mean several ways of refueling at once, including one in which the refueling car will be in motion. However, the vehicle will most likely have to stop.
The description of the patent says that the invention works with all types of fuel - hydrogen, gasoline, electricity. The drone locates the vehicle using GPS and uses special sensors to pave the way to the car.
The Drive writes that it did not find a word in the description about the need for human effort for such refueling or reloading. Although it looks strange, because different cars have a tank on different sides and opens in different ways, not to mention that the ways in which you can open the charging port may also differ.
It is not yet known when such technologies will become publicly available or whether they will become available at all.
