Kia Sportage gets the look of the new Sorento
At the disposal of the online edition, Autohome were spy shots of the updated Kia Sportage crossover for the Chinese market. The official premiere of the car will take place at the Guangzhou International Auto Show.
The crossover received a significantly changed appearance with a number of design elements borrowed from the "older" Sorento model of the new generation. In particular, we are talking about a large radiator grille "smile of a tiger" characteristic shape, as well as the design of the rear part of the body with double vertical blocks of lights. After re-styling, the length of the car increased by 40 mm - up to 4500 mm.
There are no pictures of the car's interior yet, but according to Autohome, the updated Kia Sportage for China will be available with a virtual dashboard, as well as a 10.25-inch touchscreen multimedia display with navigation, voice control system, and access to Baidu online services.
Kia Sportage will be offered with an alternative 1.5-liter petrol four-cylinder engine with a capacity of 200 horsepower.
At the moment, Kia is conducting road tests of the next-generation Sportage crossover for the global market, which will differ from the model for China. The car will stand on the same platform as the new Hyundai Tucson, which debuted in mid-September. The engine lineup will include gasoline naturally aspirated and supercharged engines, as well as a hybrid power unit. The premiere of the new Kia Sportage will take place in the spring of 2021.
