Infiniti announced the premiere of the successor to the FX crossover
The Japanese brand has released the latest teasers of the QX55 coupe-crossover, which will compete with the BMW X4 and Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe.
Infiniti has released the latest teasers of the new QX55 coupe-crossover, which the automaker is positioning as the successor to the FX model from 2002 to 2017. The premiere of the car will take place on November 17 in Los Angeles in an online format, and the famous American soul singer Aloe Blacc will take part in the presentation.
From the front, the crossover will resemble the Q50 model, while from the back, the car can be distinguished by a more sloping roofline, giving a reference to the classic FX. As previously reported, the new product will also inherit "other recognizable design elements".
Technically, the QX55 will be identical to the standard Q50. Thus, the coupe-crossover will be equipped with a new two-liter supercharged "four" with a variable compression ratio, developing 272 HP and 380 Nm of torque. The engine works together with the CVT and all-wheel-drive system.
Infiniti QX55 was supposed to debut in the spring of 2020, but the premiere of the crossover was postponed for six months due to the crisis amid the coronavirus pandemic. Production of the model will be set up at the company in the Mexican city of Aguascalientes.
North American sales of the crossover will not begin until December 2020, and it will reach other markets only in 2021. The main competitors of the new product will be the BMW X4 and Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe.
