Google launches virtual business cards in search in India

11 August 2020, Tuesday By M. Konwar
Google has launched virtual business cards (People cards) in search. They appear in search results for queries related to the name of a particular person. India was the first country to launch virtual business cards.

Google virtual business cards

Any user can make a virtual business card for himself. To do this, you need to log into your Google account, enter your name in the search and fill out a form with information about yourself: photos, links to social networks, and your website. If you wish, you can add data about education, place of work, specify email. Only one virtual business card can be linked to one account.

Google said it chose India for the launch of the new feature, as this country often searches for people through search, and it is also the second-largest market after China in terms of audience volume.

According to TechCrunch, virtual business cards are another attempt by Google to add more LinkedIn-style features to search. Planned for the launch of the new option in other countries is still unknown.

How to create your People Card on Google Search

  1. To create a People Card, users will first need to sign in to their Google Account, search for their name on Google Search
  2. Tap on the "add me to Search" option that appears on the page
  3. Upload an image of yourself from your Google account, add a description, and links to social profiles or websites. You can even include your phone number or email address if you want it on your virtual visiting card
  4. Tap on the "save" option and that's it.

We will remind you, earlier Google launched a  new tool for checking ads Ad Transparency Spotlight.
