Huawei confirmed the release of the first smart watch on HarmonyOS
The HarmonyOS platform, which Huawei introduced a year ago and which industry experts have dubbed an alternative to Android, has recently practically ceased to flicker in the information field. Either the Chinese decided to slightly reduce the intensity of passions so as not to inspire false hopes in users ahead of time, or the users themselves calmed down, realizing that even without Google Play, Huawei smartphones on Android can work quite well. But, be that as it may, work on the development of HarmonyOS did not stop and continues to this day.
Huawei is indeed continuing to improve the HarmonyOS and is committed to bringing all its devices to this platform as a top priority. The head of the consumer sector of Huawei Yu Chengdong admitted this. According to him, the company's developers and engineers are already testing HarmonyOS on smartphones, tablets, and smart home devices. But if the release of these gadgets is still in question, then with Huawei smartwatches on HarmonyOS everything is absolutely clear, the top manager emphasized, promising to bring them on sale in the near future.
Smartwatches on HarmonyOS
Despite the fact that Huawei was initially expected to release its first smartwatch on HarmonyOS at the end of last year, this for some reason did not happen. However, now everything is ready to bring the wearable device to the market and show it that the world has not come together in a wedge only on the Apple and Google platforms. When exactly the watch will be released, Chengdong did not specify, making it clear only that the release will take place very soon. And, given that the next official Huawei event will be held in September, then it is most likely worth focusing on it.
In general, the launch of smartwatches on the HarmonyOS promises to mark a new milestone in the distribution of the Huawei proprietary platform. According to Chengdong, the company has planned a large-scale expansion of the operating system market, hoping to launch computers, tablets, smartphones, and even Internet of Things gadgets based on HarmonyOS in the foreseeable future. In general, Huawei hopes that HarmonyOS will become a global operating system that will lead to a redistribution of the market and capture a significant share for itself.
Huawei smartphones on HarmonyOS
Obviously, the foreseeable future for Huawei is a period of 3-5 years. The fact is that the company took exactly a year to optimize HarmonyOS, which was initially launched only on TVs, for smartwatches. But the technical and functional design of smartphones, tablets, and computers is much more complex. Therefore, even if Huawei developers put optimization on stream, the release of the brand's own smartphones on its own OS will probably not take place until 2022.
We have already reported that in September Huawei will hold the Huawei Developers Conference, where it will present HarmonyOS 2.0. It is not known exactly what innovations the updated OS build will bring, but we can expect that the key change will be extended compatibility. At least in relation to smartwatches and perhaps partly smartphones. After all, Huawei branded gadgets should be able to work in pairs and synchronize the information that each of them processes in isolation from each other.
