Demand for tablets has grown for the first time in six years
After the launch of the first Apple iPad in 2010, customers became actively interested in such a category of gadgets as tablets. But since 2014, sales of these devices have shown a downward trend. Finally, for the first time in six years, the demand for tablet computers began to grow.
According to analyst firm Strategy Analytics, buyers have become interested in tablets with large displays, which has led to sales growth for the first time since 2014. Experts predict that by the end of 2020, 160.8 million units of devices will be shipped, which is 1% more compared to 2019. The reason for this positive dynamics, according to experts, was the coronavirus pandemic, due to which more and more people are forced to work remotely or outside the office.
Tablets with a display diagonal of 10 inches or more are in the greatest demand. They account for 56% of all sales. At the same time, the most popular form factor remains the classic monoblock design (60% of sales), while 40% of buyers choose the "2-in-1" form factor. It is noteworthy that the category of these devices in terms of sales increased from 17% in 2017 to 40% in 2020.
According to analysts, the popularity of tablets with a flexible display will gradually increase from 2021. it is assumed that by 2025 their share will be 5%.
