Xiaomi introduced its own software platform for the Internet of Things
As part of the annual MIDC 2020 developer conference in China, Xiaomi top manager Fan Dian presented a new product called Xiaomi Vela. The proprietary software platform of the Internet of Things based on the NuttX operating system is designed to unite a variety of company devices.
Xiaomi's IoT Platform CEO said Xiaomi Vela will expand to smartwatches, fitness trackers, smart speakers, and smart home devices, reducing fragmentation of gadgets as part of a single ecosystem. To facilitate interaction with developers of different platforms, the vendor used the open-source NuttX operating system.
Xiaomi Vela consists of three "layers": the core, the developer tools, and the application framework. The application framework includes system services, local storage, and a graphical interface - it is also capable of adapting to various devices.
In his speech, Fan Dian noted that the number of Xiaomi smart devices currently exceeds 271 million, including products from Mijia and other partner companies of the brand. The new Xiaomi Vela software platform is already available for developers.
