Xiaomi will completely abandon 4G smartphones
In recent months, Xiaomi and its Redmi brand have introduced several 5G smartphones at once. Meanwhile, the manufacturer is not only actively aimed at transferring the entire line of devices to the new standard network but has already begun to study 6G, as well as talking about abandoning the production of 4G models.
According to a comment made by Xiaomi co-founder and CEO Lei Jun, the company plans to continue actively developing the ecosystem of devices that use fifth-generation networks. The new standard, according to the head of Xiaomi, opens up impressive opportunities in cloud gaming, autopilot systems, and organizing conferences in 4K/8K resolution.
According to the head of the company, by the end of 2020, Xiaomi may completely abandon the production of smartphones that do not support 5G. Moreover, the brand's ambitious plans point to the more active development of the Internet of things, as well as research into technologies related to 6G and satellite communications.
