ASUS ZenFone 7 Pro: flagship hardware, a capacious battery and a flip camera
ASUS has unveiled its new flagship ZenFone 7 Pro and its more affordable ZenFone 7 modification. The key feature of the new products is the original design of the camera module with a rotating mechanism that expands shooting capabilities and allows you to do without cutouts in the display. In addition, the gadgets acquired productive hardware, 5000 mAh batteries, and advanced built-in acoustics capabilities.
Almost the entire area of the front panel of the smartphone is occupied by a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with an aspect ratio of 20: 9, Full HD + resolution and a refresh rate of 90 Hz. Its features include a 200 Hz sensor sampling rate, 1 ms response speed, and 110% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space. Cutouts and holes in the matrix are completely absent - the main camera, equipped with a proprietary folding mechanism, takes over the role of the front camera.
The camera unit includes three sensors: the main one with a resolution of 64 megapixels (Sony IMX 686), a 12-megapixel one with wide-angle glass (Sony IMX363, viewing angle - 113°) and a module with a telephoto lens and a three-fold optical zoom function of 8 megapixels. The camera of the novelty allows you to record video 8K @ 30 fps and using the function of electronic image stabilization. It also supports the creation of slow-mo videos at speeds up to 240 frames per second in Full HD resolution, and up to 120 fps in 4K.
A special tilt sensor is also provided to determine the optimal shooting angle. A special motor responsible for the movement of the module provides positioning accuracy with an adjustment step of 0.5 degrees. If the device falls, its camera will quickly return to its original position, reducing the chance of mechanical damage. The declared life of the mechanism is 200,000 opening cycles, which is approximately five years of use at 100 cycles per day.
The eight-core Snapdragon 865 processor with the Adreno 650 graphics accelerator is responsible for the performance of the flagship smartphone. The new items have 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of built-in UFS 3.1 storage. The capacity of the built-in ASUS ZenFone 7 battery with support for Quick Charge 4 technology is 5000 mAh. According to the manufacturer, from 0% to 60% the gadget will be charged in 34 minutes, and a full "recharge" will take 93 minutes.
Audio features of the new product are represented by stereo speakers and three built-in microphones. The latter are able to compensate for wind noise during video shooting, and are also used to implement the technology of focusing on the sound source.
The basic smartphone model differs from the Pro version only by the processor model (Snapdragon 865) and memory configuration (6/8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of built-in memory, as well as the lack of optical stabilization function.
