The head of OnePlus confirmed the release of a low-cost smartphone
Rumors about the upcoming release of the “lite” OnePlus smartphone have finally received official confirmation. The head of the brand, Pete Lau, announced the vendor's plans to release a new product that is more affordable in comparison with current flagships. According to him, the company will do everything possible to reduce the cost of its devices in the near future.
During an interview with Fast Company, Lau noted that OnePlus is not going to give up abandon low-cost devices. In particular, the company is considering the possibility of entering the Indian market, where affordable smartphones are in demand. Although the head of the brand did not say which model will be the "budget" of the brand line, presumably it was an unannounced OnePlus Z.
"We are seeing a situation where it is obvious that the consumer is interested in devices with a more affordable price. This is important for us, and we take this segment of gadgets seriously," said Pete Lau.
According to previous leaks, the OnePlus Z can get an OLED display with an integrated fingerprint scanner and a 90 Hz refresh rate, a 4000 mAh battery, and a triple main camera with 48, 16 and 2 MP sensor resolutions. Presumably, it will be built on the basis of the Snapdragon 765g processor. The date of the announcement and the price of the upcoming new product are not disclosed by the manufacturer.
