Xiaomi patented a smartphone with a removable display
Xiaomi's portfolio already includes several unusual mobile solutions - For example, the Mi Mix Alpha concept smartphone or versions of popular mainstream models with a transparent back cover. Soon the range of branded gadgets can be supplemented by an even more original device - a new patent of the company describes a device with a modular design, the display of which is "detached" from the case.
The document, published today by the Chinese regulator CNIPA, contains a text description and a series of images of a smartphone with an unusual design. Its display is a removable module that connects to the main part of the case via connectors. It is noteworthy that the gadget does not have visible holes or cutouts for the front camera - this may indicate its sub-screen location.
On the lower end of the case, you can see the USB Type-C port, speaker grilles, and a microphone hole. The volume and power buttons are located on the right, and the SIM card tray is located on the left side of the device. On the back cover is a vertical module of the main camera with three sensors - their characteristics are not specified by the patent.
According to network informants, the gadget will presumably receive support for wireless chargers, and an additional battery will be built into its display module. The source does not disclose detailed specifications, commercial name and possible date of announcement of the original smartphone.
