LG's top Manager announced a "roll-up smartphone" with a flexible screen
While various electronics manufacturers are actively working on the release of new generations of bendable smartphones, LG announced the upcoming release of a more original device. According to the company's CEO, a unique gadget with a roll-up flexible display will be introduced in early 2021.
The first rumors about the LG device, codenamed Project B, appeared on the network a few months ago, but the company did not give any official comments about plans to release an extraordinary device. Recently, vendor CEO Kwon Bong said that LG will be the first manufacturer to offer a smartphone with a collapsible display in 2021. According to leaks published by South Korean insiders, LG has already developed several prototypes, the production of which is actively engaged in local enterprises.
The idea of such a device is to use a flexible OLED matrix, which LG is developing together with the Chinese BOE. If necessary, the user can stretch the display by increasing the diagonal of the screen, and in the field position, the new product will take up little space, easily fits in a pocket or bag. According to rumors, the vendor is also developing two new Android flagships with the code names Horizontal and Rainbow, the presentation of which may take place before the end of the year.
The detailed specifications and estimated price of the LG roll-up smartphone are unknown.
