Analysts named the best-selling 5G smartphones in the world
Counterpoint Research has published statistics on sales of smartphones with support for fifth generation mobile networks as of the beginning of autumn 2020. It is noteworthy that the top 5 of the resulting consolidated rating was taken by gadgets of only two brands.
The leader of sales for the reporting period was Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, which accounted for 5% of the 5G smartphone market. The second place was taken by the flagship HUAWEI P40 Pro with an indicator of 4.5%. In third place is another device of the Chinese tech giant — the mid-budget HUAWEI nova 7 (4.3%). The top 10 also includes other models of both brands: Samsung Galaxy S20+ and Galaxy Note20, as well as HUAWEI P40. In addition, the list includes smartphones made by vivo, OPPO and HONOR.
Experts emphasized that the popularity rating of 5G devices may soon change due to the recent release of several flagship devices with support for fifth-generation networks - the new Apple iPhone 12 and HUAWEI Mate 40. Earlier, the analytical agency IDC also reported on the increased popularity of the HUAWEI brand in China in the third quarter of 2020 - it accounted for more than half of sales of 5G smartphones at the end of September.
