Design and characteristics of the "console laptop" GPD Win 3 leaked to the network
The Chinese company GPD already offers several original ultra-compact gaming laptops, such as GPD Win Max and Pocket 2 Max. Now the brand is preparing to release a new model — according to insiders, it will have more in common with portable consoles than with laptops. A list of features and images of an unannounced device called GPD Win 3 appeared on the web before the start of the manufacturer's advertising campaign.
The design of GPD Win 3, judging by the available images, in many ways resembles the Sony VAIO UX model released in the mid-2000s, equipped with a retractable 5.5-inch display, under which the hardware keyboard is hidden. According to network informants, the "core" of the miniature laptop will be the Intel Core i7-1165G7 processor with Intel Iris Xe graphics. The gaming device will have up to 16 GB of RAM, depending on the configuration, and the manufacturer uses a solid-state NVMe drive in the M. 2 2280 form factor with the ability to expand via a microSD card as internal storage.
GPD Win 3 will get a screen with a resolution of 720p, relatively large keys and gamepads on the edges of the case, reminiscent of controllers for the Nintendo Switch. The gadget is credited with wireless communication modules Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0, support for the Thunderbolt 4 interface, as well as USB Type-A and HDMI ports. In addition, a special docking station with an expanded set of interfaces is also expected to appear in the company's product range.
GPD Win 3 is expected to appear on the Indiegogo crowdfunding platform in early January 2021, the price of the device is still unknown.
