Rumor: Samsung will start producing processors for Windows computers
In the next two years, Apple intends to completely abandon Intel processors and start using ARM chipsets of its own design in all its computers. Microsoft, with the support of Qualcomm, is also making attempts to transfer Windows devices to mobile chips, but so far without success. According to new data, Samsung intends to take a direct part in this process.
According to the publication SamMobile, Samsung has already developed a special version of its flagship processor Exynos 990, used in smartphones of the Galaxy S20 line, for personal computers. However, the company is in no hurry to announce this, as it is not sure that the chipset will cope with the tasks of personal computers. However, the South Korean giant does not intend to abandon this promising direction.
It is reported that Samsung is developing another chipset for computers running Windows based on the future Exynos 1000, which is supposed to be produced by a 5-nm process. According to rumors, the version of this processor for smartphones will be equipped with integrated graphics from AMD, but the PC version may use a different GPU.
At the moment, all this is just a rumor, and so far there are no facts confirming the appearance of Windows computers based on Exynos processors.
