MediaTek introduced Dimensity 720 processor for mid-range 5G smartphones
MediaTek has announced a new processor for mid-budget Android devices. The chip called Dimensity 720 is equipped with an integrated 5G modem, and one of its main features is support for MediaTek 5G UltraSave technology, which is designed to ensure the high autonomy of smartphones.
The architecture of the mobile platform is represented by two high-performance Cortex-A76 cores with a clock speed of 2.0 GHz and six energy-efficient Cortex-A55 cores. The new Dimensity 720 processor is equipped with an ARM Mali-G57 GPU. This combination of hardware supports displays with a refresh rate of 90 Hz and resolutions up to 2520x1080 pixels, as well as HDR 10+. The new product is designed to work with LPDDR4 RAM (up to 12 GB) and UFS 2.2 drives.
The chip has an integrated 5G modem (SA / NSA) with the ability to combine carrier frequencies (2CC CA). The processor can also support one 64MP camera module or two in a 20 + 16MP combination. A feature of Dimensity 720 is the MediaTek 5G UltraSave technology, which saves battery power by intelligently configuring the modem during its activity.
