TCL introduced displays for smartphones with a dynamic refresh rate
The Chinese company TCL is known not only as a smartphone brand but also as a display manufacturer. A subsidiary of the vendor called China Star Optoelectronics Technology has introduced a new generation of screens for smartphones with variable refresh rates. Original panels are able to automatically adjust to the conditions of use of the gadget, increasing its autonomy without compromising the quality of the image in dynamic scenes.
6.53-inch displays with Full HD+ resolution (2340 x 1080 pixels) can change the scan frequency in the range from 30 to 120 Hz. For example, if the user starts a dynamic game, the screen will automatically switch to the maximum performance mode. If the device owner is reading a book or viewing static images, the economy 30-hour mode will be activated. The standard 60 Hz frequency is designed for typical tasks like web surfing.
According to the manufacturer, the specified mode of use allows you to reduce the power consumption of the smartphone by 18% compared with standard solutions. The declared maximum brightness of the new screens is 500 nits; NTSC color gamut coverage is 84%.
Representatives of TCL noted that the appearance on the market of smartphones using displays with a variable refresh rate will take place before the end of 2020.
