Published features of the first AMD Ryzen processor for smartphones

Last year, Samsung and AMD already signed an agreement on cooperation in the development of processors with integrated graphics based on the RDNA 2 architecture. Now, the network has received the first information about a new chip called AMD Ryzen C7, which is expected to become a productive alternative to the solutions of Qualcomm and MediaTek in the mobile market.



According to an insider leak, the eight-core chip, manufactured using a 5-nm process, will include two Gaugin Pro cores based on the recently announced ARM Cortex-X1 architecture (3 GHz), a pair of Gaugin (Cortex-A78, 2.6 GHz) and four energy-efficient Cortex-A55 (2.0 GHz). The built-in graphics of the new product with a clock frequency of 700 MHz will receive four rDNA 2 cores. According to network informants, the new GPU is 45% better than the Adreno 650 in terms of performance. Claimed hardware support for ray tracing and Variable Rate Shading (VRS) texture compression technology.


Among other specifications of the AMD mobile platform, support for LPDDR5X standard memory, UFS 3.1 drives, as well as Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, and 5G modems are noted. According to rumors, the new single-chip platform will not only find application in the mobile industry but will also become the basis for creating a new generation of portable game consoles.


The announcement date of the AMD Ryzen C7 processor is unknown.
