Fastest SSDs of 2021 according to popular benchmark
The developers of the Master Lu benchmark have published a rating of the performance of solid-state drives for the first quarter of 2021. According to experts, users are increasingly giving preference to SSD drives, abandoning traditional "hard drives".
The fastest consumer model, the authors of the rating called the WDBlack SN850 terabyte drive, which supports the PCIe 4.0 standard. Its maximum sequential read and write speed is up to 7000 MB/s and 5300 MB/s, respectively. In second place is the Samsung EVO 980 Pro of the same volume. The third place was taken by the GALAXY HOF Pro, the fourth - Samsung PM981.
Another drive of the South Korean brand closes the five leaders - model 970 EVO Plus with a volume of 500 GB. The most popular SSDs also include devices from Western Digital and Kingston. Together with Samsung, these three brands account for 44.2% of the market share.
According to analysts, the share of sales of SSD drives in the consumer segment is now over 75%, while the number of purchased HDDs continues to decline.
