Qualcomm spoke about investments in processors and plans for the future
Qualcomm held its annual Tech Summit Digital conference this week. During the event, the company not only presented the flagship mobile platform Snapdragon 888, but also talked about investments in new technologies and predictions for the future of the mobile industry.
Snapdragon 888 is the result of numerous research and development efforts. This is what allows Qualcomm to remain one of the leaders in the mobile processor market. The company spares no expense to avoid losing its leadership. During the summit, it was announced that Qualcomm has already spent a total of $66 billion on research and development related to mobile technologies.
A lot of attention at the event was given to the networks of the fifth generation. Qualcomm predicts that between 450 and 550 million 5G smartphones will be sold next year, and in 2022 this figure will exceed 750 million. By comparison, just over 200 million 5G users are expected worldwide this year.
