Apple introduced the fastest processor for laptops
As part of the third presentation this fall, Apple opened a new chapter in the history of branded Mac computers. The company introduced its first ARM processor designed specifically for laptops. It is created on the same principle as the chips in the iPhone and iPad. The Apple M1 is claimed to be the most powerful chip in its class.
The Apple M1 was the first computer processor to use the advanced 5-nanometer process technology. The company managed to place 16 billion transistors on the chip. Apple engineers were tasked with achieving not only outstanding performance, but also energy efficiency.
The Apple M1 includes an eight-core CPU with four high-performance and four energy-efficient cores. Apple claims that this is the fastest desktop CPU, surpassing the latest mobile processors of competitors in performance per watt. So, with a consumption of 10 W, the Apple M1 is twice as powerful as its competitors.
In addition to the CPU, inside the Apple M1, there is an eight-core GPU, the power of which is an impressive 2.6 teraflops. Compared to integrated graphics in notebooks from other companies, Apple M1 delivers double the performance at 10 watts. According to Apple, this is the fastest integrated graphics in the world.
Apple announced that key developers like Adobe have already implemented support for the Apple M1 in their programs or are working on it. Moreover, the use of an ARM processor allows you to run any iOS application on Mac computers.
