AfterShokz OpenMove AS660 - Xiaomi partner has released bone conduction headphones
Xiaomi's crowdfunding platform Youpin has announced the new AfterShokz OpenMove AS660 wireless headphones. They are special in the way they deliver sound to the user: instead of traditional speakers, the principle of the headset is based on bone conduction technology.
AfterShokz OpenMove AS660 is mounted on the user's ears, but are not inserted inside, but located in the temple area. Bone conduction technology allows sound to be transmitted through vibration, bypassing the eardrum. This avoids hearing problems due to too loud volume. Another advantage is the ability to fully hear the surrounding sounds, which is especially important when outdoors.
The headset is based on Qualcomm QCC3024 processor with Bluetooth 5.0 support. The claimed battery life from the built-in battery is 6 hours in the mode of continuous listening to music. Headphones are charged via the USB Type-C connector. It has IP55 splash protection, so even light rain won't harm the device.
AfterShokz OpenMove AS660 price in China is now $88.
