GoPro Hero 9 Black: 5K video, dual screens and interchangeable lenses
GoPro has introduced the new action camera Hero 9 Black. It has received many important changes in comparison with the previous generation. Among the key differences: a higher-resolution sensor, the ability to record video in 5K, a full-fledged front-facing display, and support for interchangeable lenses.
GoPro Hero 9 Black received an updated appearance. The manufacturer increased the size of the on and shutter buttons to make them even easier to press, and the diagonal of the main touch LCD display increased by 16%. But the main change was the appearance of a full-fledged 1.4-inch color LCD screen on the front panel. You can use it to fully control the process of shooting yourself.
The camera uses a completely new 23.6-megapixel sensor that allows you to record video in 5K 30 fps, 4K 60 fps, or 1080p 240 fps. Photos are taken in 20 MP resolution, and from 5K videos, you can save individual frames in 14.7 MP resolution. Even more effective stabilization is claimed due to a combination of HyperSmooth 3.0 functions and horizon level tracking.
The manufacturer has announced several new modes that make it even easier to capture an important moment. For example, HindSight allows Hero 9 Black to start recording video 15 or 30 seconds before the user presses the shutter button. LiveBurst works in a similar way, but only records 1.5 seconds before and after the photo was created. As a result, you can choose the optimal frame or save the entire three-second video clip. There is also a delayed photo or video capture with a maximum timer value of up to 24 hours. For example, in the evening, you can put the camera on a tripod so that early in the morning it independently captured the dawn — you don't have to Wake up for this yourself. Also announced is the webcam mode with the ability to record video in 1080p.
The new model has a 1720 mAh battery, and the manufacturer claims that the battery life has increased by 30% compared to the previous generation.
An important innovation of the Hero 9 Black is the support for interchangeable lenses. So far, only one has been presented - Max Lens Mod. According to the manufacturer, it provides improved stabilization and a wider viewing angle.
In addition, the new product supports various plug-ins, including a powerful flash, a separate microphone, and a front-facing two-inch display for viewing photos and videos taken. The camera itself is protected from water and can withstand diving to a depth of 10 meters.
The GoPro Hero 9 Black is now available on the manufacturer's official website for $449.99. Also on sale are an external microphone and display with a price tag of $79.99 each. Lens Max Lens Mod is expected in October at a price of $99.99.
