Pumpkii - a robot that takes care of Pets
The recently introduced home robot called Pumpkii is designed specifically for pet owners. The robot promises many features that will allow it to entertain pets, help owners interact with their pets from a distance, and more. One of the most unique features of the robot is a bucket equipped with a scoop for cleaning toilet trays.
Pumpkii looks like a big RC toy car with a built-in camera and a lot more features. The robot is described as modular, so it can be used for a variety of purposes, including entertaining cats and dogs, dispensing treats at random, playing audio, recording videos and photos, sharing content, and cleaning trays.
The camera built into Pumpkii is essentially a normal home IP security camera, but only a mobile one. Users can attach things to the robot such as a teasing cat feather, a container for treats to throw the pet snacks or a robotic arm. Users can access and control the robot using the mobile app.
As shown in the video below, the Pumpkii is equipped with omnidirectional wheels that allow it to move not only forward and backward but also sideways. The most interesting feature - the robotic arm - allows a tiny machine to take over the job of cleaning the toilet tray. The robot can collect waste by sifting the aggregate, and then put the waste in the appropriate container.
The Pumpkii team says it used an open-source hardware interface. Developers will provide users with access to the SDK, opening the door to other potential applications and modes for the home robot. All of this assumes that the crowdfunding campaign is successful and that the product will eventually be brought to market. The robotic arm Pumpkii is expected to retail for $349.
