ASUS RT-AX86U and ASUS RT-AX82U - ASUS introduced a pair of advanced gaming routers with Wi-Fi 6 support
ASUS has announced the release of two dual-band gaming routers with support for Wi-Fi 6 (802.11 ax). The RT-AX86U and RT-AX82U models are primarily aimed at gamers, allowing you to organize a home network with high data transfer rates, stable connection, and minimal latency.
Support for Wi-Fi 6 provides a higher connection speed, increased bandwidth, and network coverage, as well as saves battery power of connected devices. The Wi-Fi 6 standard in new routers uses 160 MHz wide channels. The total throughput of the RT-AX86U model is 5700 Mb/s, and the RT-AX82U is 5400 Mb/s.
The combination of OFDMA and MU-MIMO technologies implemented in the Wi-Fi 6 standard allows to obtain high speed and stability of the connection even in busy networks with a large number of connected devices, as well as expand the coverage area. The “Schedule Awakening” function allows routers to allocate certain time intervals during which data will be exchanged with client devices. This saves battery power for both wireless gaming gadgets and home Internet of things devices.
Both models of routers support ASUS AiMesh technology, thanks to which they can be combined into a mesh network with other devices compatible with AiMesh technology to expand the coverage area of the home network and eliminate dead zones.
ASUS RT-AX86U and RT-AX82U routers received support for the special Mobile Game mode, which is activated through the ASUS Router proprietary application. This mode allows you to increase the connection speed in online games by automatically giving priority to traffic to a mobile device running ASUS Router.
The Gear Accelerator function allows you to prioritize certain gadgets to speed up the transfer of their network data via the router’s online interface via a wireless connection. One of the LAN ports on the router acts as gaming (Gaming Port). A device connected over the wire to this port is given the highest priority. In addition, the RT-AX86U is additionally equipped with a 2.5G Ethernet port, which can be used as a WAN or LAN.
The RT-AX86U is officially recommended by NVIDIA for the GeForce Now cloud gaming service. The RT-AX82U is also ready to be included in this program.
The new ASUS routers are designed in a gaming style with distinctive color accents. The RT-AX86U router is designed in a vertical format with bright red inserts on the bottom of the front panel. The RT-AX82U has a futuristic design with Aura dynamic RGB backlighting. You can customize it to your taste - from overflows of all rainbow colors to any of the predefined effects, and if you wish, switch to a more relaxed static mode.
ASUS RT-AX86U and RT-AX82U support the latest WPA3 wireless security protocol and come with a free lifetime license for ASUS AiProtection Pro software, including advanced parental controls.
Prices for new ASUS gaming routers will be announced later.
