OPPO introduced advanced augmented reality glasses
In addition to the OPPO X 2021 smartphone, the OPPO INNO Day 2020 conference showcased the OPPO AR Glass 2021 augmented reality glasses and the CybeReal mobile app, which combines the real world with the virtual one.
OPPO AR Glass 2021 is an improved version of the glasses shown last year. Outwardly, they are as close as possible to the most common glasses, but have slightly increased dimensions. At the same time, they became 75% lighter than the previous version. In addition, in comparison with last year's version, the contrast increased by 53%, the uniformity of the brightness distribution - by 98%, and the number of pixels per degree - by 40%.
The image is projected into the user's eyes from 0.71-inch OLED displays. According to OPPO, the glasses are able to simulate viewing content on a 90-inch screen from a distance of three meters. The gadget connects to a smartphone via USB Type-C. In this case, the phone acts as a controller. The glasses are equipped with a pair of cameras with fisheye lenses, which are paired with a ToF sensor to scan the environment with high accuracy and can even track hand and finger movements at 21 points.
The glasses can be used to watch videos, play different AR games, place virtual furniture indoors, and more. Next year, OPPO promises to release a set of tools for third-party developers to create augmented reality applications.
Together with the glasses, the OPPO CybeReal augmented reality mobile application was presented. It is based on real-time spatial computing technology, providing highly accurate positioning and scene recognition using GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and mobile networks. As part of the demonstration of the program, they showed advanced navigation around the city with the application of augmented reality over real objects.
There is no information yet about the arrival of OPPO AR Glass 2021 glasses on sale and the release of the CybeReal app.
